Michael Vaughan, DDS
Dr. Michael Vaughan grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and attended Vanderbilt University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He studied German and History at University of Regensburg in Germany. Dr. Vaughan graduated from University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and completed a 2 year General Practice residency at Vanderbilt University in 1993. Dr. Vaughan joined the practice of Dr. Roy Elam, Dr. Robert Elam and Dr. Bill Knox located across from Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Vaughan is an active member of the Nashville Dental Society, the Tennessee Dental Association (Alternate Delegate 1996-1998. Delegate from 1992-2002) and the American Dental Association. Dr. Vaughan received the designation “Fellow” in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1999 and was Editor for the Tennessee Academy of General Dentistry from 1999-2004.
Dr. Vaughan received the Howard Gamble Outstanding Editor Award in 2002. He has written pages on dental related topics that have been published or reviewed by the Journal of Dental Research and the Journal of Tennessee Dental Association.
Dr. Vaughan learned the technique of intravenous or IV Sedation at Vanderbilt University and holds a Comprehensive Conscious Sedation License to use both oral & IV conscious sedation in the practice of dentistry. He is certified in both Basic Life Support & Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Dr. Michael Vaughan is very involved in the Nashville community and civic activities. He is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Nashville and has led medical mission trips to Mexico and Brazil. He enjoys water skiing and tennis in summer and snow skiing and hiking in winter. Dr. Vaughan likes to spend free time with his daughters Megan and Mollie and visiting family in California and North Carolina.
